In partnership with the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR), our team hosted the first annual IDEAL Community and Health Equity Symposium - a marquee event which brought together community and academic partners, patients, providers, and diverse members of the public for a day of learning, dialogue, and connection on the topic of 'health equity.' Alongside the event's plenary speakers, round table discussions, and poster session, the day featured a series of 'breakout' sessions designed to support conversations of areas of particular relevance to modern health equity: The Digital Divide, Research Engagement (e.g., clinical trial participation), and Community-Based Participatory Research. These break-out conversations now serve as the basis for onWHARD's planned community support efforts, designed to address continued, practical barriers to health equity in our state. Funding is being sought to support these community-informed initiatives.
